What’s in a Name?
I wasn’t renamed.
I chose this name.
Like building a home from earth, sweat, and intention—I gave myself a name that could hold me.
Ashanti calls on the royal bloodlines of West Africa, where dreamwork is sacred and memory is ancestral.
It also carries shanti—Sanskrit for peace. For years, I went by Shanti, a gentle invocation of stillness.
But the “A” changed everything. A leadership letter. A beginning. A crown I placed on my own head.
Gumbo is the nourishment—soul food made sacred.
A recipe of survival and ceremony.
Yoga and tantra, yes—but also front porch prayers, whispered spells, and learning to stretch what little you have until it feeds everyone.
Okra base. Thick with memory. Sticky with spirit.
This gumbo is cooked in grief, joy, and deep knowing.
In numerology, Ashanti Gumbo resonates with the number 4 —
Earth energy. Ritual energy. Big Fine Woman folk magic.
The number of the builder, the steward, the grounded mystic.
It’s a ward, a rhythm, a roof.
Just like in Spirited Away, I didn’t wait for anyone to tell me who I was.
I remembered.
And then I wrote it down.
And Then It Grew…
What started as a name became a movement.
Ashanti Gumbo™ evolved into an immersive experience, a teaching platform, a ritual space for others to remember themselves.

Now it’s passed on like a family recipe:
